My life hung in the balance
In the courtroom of my soul
My heart lie bare for judging eyes to see
Justice saw my sin and demanded I should die
But before the gavel fell
Jesus looked into my eyes
What mercy saw when he looked at me
Beyond the fall He saw my possibility
I may never fully understand
The wonder of salvation’s plan
That led my Lord to die on Calvary
I stand amazed at what mercy saw in me
I see a thousand face passing by me everyday
Their empty eyes of pain look back at me
Sometimes it seems as if
They have no worth at all
But before I walk away I repent as I recall
